The Story of Prophet Ayyub (A.S.) | Islamic Story in English and Urdu

The Story of Prophet Ayyub (A.S.)

Important note: The Qur’an gives a brief but powerful account of Prophet Ayyub (A.S.). Details commonly repeated—such as suffering for exactly eighteen years, worms consuming his body, everyone abandoning him, or his wife’s specific name—are not clearly established in the Qur’an. Therefore, the following story distinguishes Qur’anic facts from later reports.

Detailed Story in English

A Prophet Chosen by Allah

Prophet Ayyub (A.S.), known as Job in English, was one of the prophets chosen and guided by Allah. The Qur’an mentions him among the prophets who received divine revelation and guidance.

Allah says:

“Indeed, We have revealed to you as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him… and Job…”
— Surah An-Nisa, 4:163

The Qur’an does not provide detailed information about his birthplace, family tree, occupation, or the exact period in which he lived. What it confirms is that he was a prophet, a righteous servant and a man who repeatedly turned to Allah.

A Severe Trial

Allah tested Prophet Ayyub (A.S.) with great suffering. The Qur’an does not describe every detail of his illness or tell us exactly how long it lasted. It simply informs us that severe distress and suffering touched him.

Prophet Ayyub (A.S.) said:

“Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.”
— Surah Al-Anbiya, 21:83

This prayer reveals his beautiful character. He did not accuse Allah of injustice, nor did he demand immediate relief. He respectfully mentioned his suffering and placed his hope in Allah’s mercy.

In another passage, he prayed:

“Indeed, Satan has touched me with hardship and torment.”
— Surah Sad, 38:41

These words do not mean that Satan independently controlled his destiny. Everything happens only by Allah’s permission. Prophet Ayyub (A.S.) sought protection and relief from Allah alone.

His Extraordinary Patience

Despite his suffering, Prophet Ayyub (A.S.) remained devoted to Allah. His patience did not mean that he felt no pain. Rather, it meant that pain did not cause him to lose faith, speak disrespectfully about Allah or abandon obedience.

A believer is permitted to tell Allah about their pain and ask for relief. Complaining to Allah with humility is different from complaining about Allah with anger or disbelief.

Prophet Ayyub’s prayer demonstrates this balance perfectly: he acknowledged his suffering while continuing to trust Allah’s mercy.

Allah Accepted His Prayer

When the proper time arrived, Allah accepted the prayer of His servant:

“So We answered him and removed the adversity that was upon him. We restored his family to him and their like along with them, as a mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers.”
— Surah Al-Anbiya, 21:84

Allah did not forget Prophet Ayyub (A.S.). His period of hardship was an appointed test, not evidence that Allah had abandoned him.

Allah instructed him:

“Strike the ground with your foot. Here is cool water for washing and drinking.”
— Surah Sad, 38:42

Prophet Ayyub (A.S.) obeyed Allah’s command. Allah provided cool water for him to wash with and drink, and his suffering was removed.

The cure came from Allah, while the water was the means Allah commanded him to use. This teaches us to combine prayer and trust in Allah with lawful practical action.

His Family Was Restored

Allah says:

“And We restored his family to him, and their like along with them, as a mercy from Us and a reminder for people of understanding.”
— Surah Sad, 38:43

The Qur’an does not explain precisely whether his original family members were returned to life, reunited with him, or whether Allah compensated him by granting him more family. Scholars have offered different explanations, so it is safest not to state one interpretation as certain.

What is certain is that Allah restored and increased His blessings upon Prophet Ayyub (A.S.).

The Oath and the Bundle

Allah then commanded:

“Take in your hand a bundle, strike with it, and do not break your oath.”
— Surah Sad, 38:44

The Qur’an does not directly explain whom the oath concerned or why Prophet Ayyub (A.S.) had taken it. Later commentaries often connect it to his wife, but those details should not be presented as explicit Qur’anic facts.

The verse demonstrates Allah’s mercy: He provided Prophet Ayyub (A.S.) with a gentle way to fulfil his oath without causing severe harm.

Allah’s Praise for Ayyub (A.S.)

At the conclusion of his story, Allah declares:

“Indeed, We found him patient. What an excellent servant! Indeed, he constantly turned back to Allah.”
— Surah Sad, 38:44

This was the greatest honour: Allah Himself praised Prophet Ayyub’s patience, worship and devotion.

His story is not simply about a sick person recovering. It is the story of a faithful servant whose relationship with Allah remained firm when worldly comfort disappeared.

The Qur’anic account appears mainly in Surah Al-Anbiya 21:83–84 and Surah Sad 38:41–44.

Prophet Sulaiman (A.S.) and the Ant | Islamic Story in English and Urdu

🐜 Prophet Sulaiman (A.S.) and the Ant

Allah blessed Prophet Sulaiman (A.S.) with wisdom, a magnificent kingdom, and the ability to understand the speech of creatures.

One day, he was travelling with his organized army of humans, jinn and birds. When they reached the Valley of the Ants, an ant warned the others:

“O ants! Enter your homes, lest Sulaiman and his armies crush you unknowingly.”

Prophet Sulaiman (A.S.) understood her words and smiled. He then prayed to Allah:

“My Lord! Inspire me to be thankful for Your blessings…and to perform righteous deeds that please You.”

Despite possessing immense power, Prophet Sulaiman (A.S.) remained grateful and humble before Allah.

🌿 Lessons from the story:

• Be kind to every living creature.
• Remain humble when Allah grants success.
• Always thank Allah for His blessings.
• True power must be accompanied by mercy and responsibility.

Prophet Sulaiman (A.S.) and the Ant

English Story

Prophet Sulaiman (A.S.) was a great prophet and king. Allah blessed him with wisdom, knowledge and a mighty kingdom. Allah also gave him the remarkable ability to understand the speech of birds and other creatures.

One day, Prophet Sulaiman (A.S.) was travelling with his army. His forces included humans, jinn and birds, and they marched in organized ranks.

When they reached the Valley of the Ants, one ant saw the approaching army. She warned the other ants:

“O ants! Enter your homes, so that Sulaiman and his armies do not crush you unknowingly.”

Prophet Sulaiman (A.S.) understood what the ant had said. He smiled at her words. Instead of becoming proud of his great power and special abilities, he immediately remembered Allah and prayed:

“My Lord! Inspire me to be thankful for Your favour which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and to do righteous deeds that please You. And admit me, by Your mercy, among Your righteous servants.”

Prophet Sulaiman (A.S.) made sure that his army did not harm the ants. This beautiful incident teaches us that true greatness lies in kindness, gratitude and humility. Even though Prophet Sulaiman (A.S.) possessed an enormous kingdom, he cared about a tiny ant and recognized that all his abilities were gifts from Allah.

Moral Lessons

  • We should show kindness to every living creature.

  • Power must be used responsibly.

  • We should thank Allah for every blessing.

  • True leaders protect the weak and vulnerable.

  • Knowledge and success should make us humble, not proud.

Qur’anic reference: Surah An-Naml, verses 17–19.

Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) and the Fire: Complete Story from the Quran | Beautiful Islamic story

🔥 Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) and the Fire

🔥 Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) and the Fire

Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) courageously taught his people that lifeless idols could neither hear, help nor protect them. However, instead of accepting the truth, they became angry and decided to burn him.

They prepared a fire and threw Ibrahim (A.S.) into it—but Allah commanded:

“O fire, be coolness and safety upon Ibrahim.”
— Qur’an 21:69

By Allah’s command, the fire did not harm him. His enemies wanted to destroy him, but Allah defeated their plan and saved His faithful servant.

✨ Lessons from the story:

🤲 Worship Allah alone
💪 Stand for the truth—even when you stand alone
❤️ Never blindly follow wrong traditions
🕊️ Trust Allah during every difficulty
🌙 Remember that Allah has power over all things

When Allah protects you, even fire cannot harm you.

-----------------------------------

Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) and the Fire

A Detailed Story Based on the Qur’an

Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) was one of Allah’s greatest prophets. Allah gave him wisdom and guided him from an early age:

“We had certainly given Ibrahim his sound judgement before, and We knew him well.”
— Qur’an 21:51

Ibrahim (A.S.) Questions Idol Worship

Prophet Ibrahim’s people worshipped idols and celestial objects instead of Allah. Ibrahim (A.S.) understood that objects which could not hear, speak, help or protect anyone could not be worthy of worship.

He asked his father, Azar:

“Do you take idols as gods? Indeed, I see you and your people in manifest error.”
— Qur’an 6:74

He spoke respectfully to his father and asked why he worshipped something that could neither hear nor see nor provide any benefit. He invited him to follow the guidance Allah had given him.

However, his father rejected his message and threatened to punish him. Ibrahim (A.S.) did not respond disrespectfully. He said:

“Peace be upon you. I will ask forgiveness for you from my Lord.”
— Qur’an 19:47

This teaches us that even when people reject the truth, we should speak with wisdom and good manners.

The Signs of the Stars, Moon and Sun

Allah showed Ibrahim (A.S.) the greatness of the heavens and the earth so that he would possess firm faith.

When night came, Ibrahim saw a star. He said, as part of his argument against his people’s beliefs, “This is my lord.” But when the star disappeared, he declared that he did not love things that disappeared.

He then saw the moon rising. When it set, he explained that without Allah’s guidance, a person would go astray. When he saw the sun, he pointed out that it was greater, but when it also set, he rejected everything his people associated with Allah.

He announced:

“Indeed, I have turned my face toward the One who created the heavens and the earth, inclining toward truth, and I am not of those who associate others with Allah.”
— Qur’an 6:79

Ibrahim (A.S.) was demonstrating that stars, the moon and the sun were created objects. They appeared and disappeared according to Allah’s command; therefore, they could not be gods.

Ibrahim (A.S.) Challenges His People

Ibrahim asked his people:

“What are these statues to which you are devoted?”
— Qur’an 21:52

They replied that they had found their forefathers worshipping them. This was their main justification: they were simply following the customs of previous generations.

Ibrahim clearly told them that both they and their forefathers had been in obvious error. His people were surprised and asked whether he had brought the truth or was merely joking.

Ibrahim answered that their true Lord was the Lord of the heavens and the earth—the One who had created everything. He declared that he was among those who testified to this truth.

Ibrahim (A.S.) Breaks the Idols

When the people went away, Ibrahim (A.S.) approached their idols. According to Surah As-Saffat, he found food placed before them and asked:

“Will you not eat? What is wrong with you that you do not speak?”
— Qur’an 37:91–92

The idols obviously could not answer.

Ibrahim then broke the idols into pieces, leaving the largest one intact. His purpose was to make the people think about the helplessness of the objects they worshipped.

When the people returned and saw their idols destroyed, they became furious. They asked:

“Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is surely one of the wrongdoers.”
— Qur’an 21:59

Some people remembered hearing a young man named Ibrahim speaking against the idols. They decided to bring him before everyone so that the people could witness the questioning.

Ibrahim’s Powerful Argument

When Ibrahim (A.S.) was brought before them, they asked whether he had destroyed their gods.

He replied:

“Rather, this—the largest of them—did it. So ask them, if they can speak.”
— Qur’an 21:63

Ibrahim was exposing the contradiction in their beliefs. They considered the idols powerful gods, but they already knew that those idols could not speak, move or defend themselves.

For a brief moment, they turned to themselves and admitted that they were the ones acting unjustly. But instead of accepting the truth, they returned to their stubbornness.

They said to Ibrahim:

“You certainly know that these do not speak.”
— Qur’an 21:65

Ibrahim then asked why they worshipped things besides Allah that could neither benefit nor harm them. He expressed his rejection of their idols and asked why they did not use their reason.

His argument had completely defeated them. They could not answer him logically, so they resorted to violence.

The Decision to Burn Ibrahim (A.S.)

The people said:

“Burn him and support your gods, if you are going to act.”
— Qur’an 21:68

Surah As-Saffat also records their decision:

“Build for him a structure and throw him into the blazing fire.”
— Qur’an 37:97

They wanted to punish Ibrahim and defend the false gods that could not defend themselves. They believed the fire would destroy him and silence his message.

However, they had forgotten that fire itself was only a creation of Allah. It could burn only by His permission.

Allah Commands the Fire

When Ibrahim (A.S.) was placed in the fire, Allah protected him with a miraculous command:

“O fire, be coolness and safety upon Ibrahim.”
— Qur’an 21:69

Allah did not merely command the fire to become cool; He commanded it to become both cool and safe for Ibrahim. By Allah’s will, the same fire that normally burned became harmless.

The people had intended to harm Ibrahim, but Allah defeated their plan:

“They intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers.”
— Qur’an 21:70

Surah As-Saffat similarly explains:

“They intended against him a plan, but We made them the lowest.”
— Qur’an 37:98

The fire could not harm Ibrahim because Allah—the Creator of fire—had commanded it to be safe.

Ibrahim’s Migration

After Allah saved him, Ibrahim (A.S.) left his people and migrated for the sake of his faith.

He said:

“Indeed, I am going to my Lord; He will guide me.”
— Qur’an 37:99

Allah saved Ibrahim and Prophet Lut (A.S.) and guided them toward the blessed land:

“We delivered him and Lut to the land which We had blessed for all people.”
— Qur’an 21:71

Allah later blessed Ibrahim with righteous descendants, including Ishaq and Ya‘qub, and made prophets among his family.

Important Lessons

1. Worship Allah Alone

Only Allah creates, controls, benefits and protects. Anything that cannot hear, speak or defend itself is unworthy of worship.

2. Do Not Follow Traditions Blindly

Ibrahim’s people followed their ancestors without examining whether their beliefs were true. Islam teaches us to follow evidence and divine guidance.

3. Speak the Truth Courageously

Ibrahim (A.S.) stood for the truth even when an entire community opposed him.

4. Use Wisdom and Reason

He encouraged his people to think about their beliefs. If the idols could not speak or protect themselves, how could they be gods?

5. Trust Allah in Every Trial

From a human perspective, escape from such a fire appeared impossible. But Ibrahim trusted Allah, and Allah protected him miraculously.

6. Everything Obeys Allah

Fire naturally burns, but its nature operates only under Allah’s authority. When Allah commanded it to become cool and safe, it obeyed.

7. Anger Is Not an Answer to the Truth

When Ibrahim’s people could not defeat his argument, they tried to kill him. Their violence showed that they had no truthful response.

Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) in the Quran: His Story, Faith, Trials & Lessons

Learn the powerful lessons of Tawheed, patience, obedience, courage, prayer, and complete trust in Allah, with Quran references.

🌙 Prophet Ibrahim (علیہ السلام) — A Quranic Story

1. Ibrahim's search for the truth

The Quran presents Ibrahim (علیہ السلام) as a person who rejected the worship of created things and recognized that only Allah deserves worship.

When he saw a star, then the moon, and then the sun, he demonstrated to his people that these things could not be gods because they disappear and change. He ultimately declared his devotion to the One who created the heavens and the earth.

Quran — Surah Al-An'am 6:76–79

“Indeed, I have turned my face toward He who created the heavens and earth, inclining toward truth, and I am not of those who associate others with Allah.”

This passage teaches Tawheed (the oneness of Allah) and the rejection of associating partners with Him.

2. Ibrahim calls his father and people to Tawheed

Ibrahim (علیہ السلام) respectfully questioned his father and his people about worshipping idols.

Quran — Surah Maryam 19:41–45

He asked his father why he worshipped things that could neither hear, see, nor benefit him. Ibrahim invited him to follow the guidance he had received.

His approach was respectful, even while strongly rejecting idol worship.

The Quran records his words:

“O my father, do not worship Satan. Indeed, Satan has ever been disobedient to the Most Merciful.”

Reference: Surah Maryam 19:44

3. Ibrahim breaks the idols

Ibrahim (علیہ السلام) challenged his people's belief in idols. He questioned them about why they worshipped statues that could not speak or benefit them.

When his people left, Ibrahim destroyed the idols, leaving the largest one standing.

Quran — Surah Al-Anbiya 21:51–67

When the people returned, they asked who had done this. Ibrahim challenged them to consider whether their idols could even defend themselves.

The Quran records his powerful argument:

“Do you then worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you?”

Reference: Surah Al-Anbiya 21:66

The story demonstrates that false gods have no power, while Allah alone has absolute power.

4. Ibrahim is thrown into the fire

His people became extremely angry with him and decided to burn him.

They said:

“Burn him and support your gods—if you are going to act.”

Surah Al-Anbiya 21:68

But Allah protected Ibrahim.

“We said, ‘O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham.’”

Surah Al-Anbiya 21:69

This is one of the most remarkable miracles mentioned in the Quran. The fire, which normally burns, could not harm Ibrahim because Allah commanded it to become safe for him.

Lesson: When Allah protects someone, no power can overcome His protection.

5. Ibrahim debates the tyrant ruler

Ibrahim also debated a ruler who argued with him about Allah.

Quran — Surah Al-Baqarah 2:258

Ibrahim explained that Allah gives life and causes death. The ruler tried to argue back, but Ibrahim presented a decisive sign:

“Indeed, Allah brings the sun from the east, so bring it from the west.”

The Quran says that the disbeliever was left confounded.

Reference: Surah Al-Baqarah 2:258

6. Ibrahim asks Allah to show him how the dead are brought to life

Ibrahim (علیہ السلام) believed in Allah's power but asked for reassurance about how resurrection occurs.

Quran — Surah Al-Baqarah 2:260

Allah asked:

“Do you not believe?”

Ibrahim replied that he did believe, but wanted his heart to be reassured.

Allah then instructed him regarding birds and demonstrated His power to bring the dead to life.

Lesson: Seeking greater understanding does not necessarily mean doubting faith.

7. Ibrahim's migration for Allah

Ibrahim eventually left his homeland for the sake of Allah.

The Quran says:

“Indeed, I am going to my Lord; He will guide me.”

Surah As-Saffat 37:99

His migration shows his willingness to leave behind what was familiar in obedience to Allah.

8. Ibrahim is blessed with children

Ibrahim (علیہ السلام) prayed to Allah for righteous offspring.

Surah As-Saffat 37:100

“My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous.”

Allah gave him glad tidings of a forbearing son.

The Quran also mentions the birth of Ishaq (Isaac) and the blessing of his descendants.

References: Surah Hud 11:69–73; Surah As-Saffat 37:101–113

9. Ibrahim and Ismail build the Kaaba

One of the most important events in Ibrahim's story is the rebuilding of the Kaaba with his son Ismail (علیہ السلام).

The Quran says:

“And [mention] when Abraham was raising the foundations of the House and [with him] Ishmael…”

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:127

While building the House, they prayed:

“Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing.”

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:127

They also prayed for themselves and their descendants:

“Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our descendants a Muslim nation…”

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:128

This connects Ibrahim and Ismail directly with the sacred House in Makkah and the tradition of submission to Allah.

10. Ibrahim's great test of sacrifice

Allah tested Ibrahim with a tremendous command involving his son.

The Quran describes Ibrahim seeing in a dream that he was sacrificing his son. Ibrahim told his son about the dream, and his son responded with remarkable submission.

Surah As-Saffat 37:102

When they both submitted to Allah's command, Allah stopped the sacrifice and provided a great sacrifice instead.

Surah As-Saffat 37:103–107

Allah says:

“And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice.”

Surah As-Saffat 37:107

The story demonstrates obedience, trust, patience, and submission to Allah.

11. Ibrahim's prayer for Makkah

Ibrahim prayed for the security and provision of the land around the Sacred House.

Surah Ibrahim 14:35–37

He prayed:

“My Lord, make this city secure…”

Surah Ibrahim 14:35

He also asked Allah to make his descendants people who established prayer.

Surah Ibrahim 14:40

“My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants.”

12. Ibrahim's special status in the Quran

Allah gave Ibrahim (علیہ السلام) an exceptionally honored position.

The Quran says:

“And Allah took Abraham as an intimate friend.”

Surah An-Nisa 4:125

He is also described as an Ummah—a model of faith and righteousness.

Surah An-Nahl 16:120

“Indeed, Abraham was a nation, devoutly obedient to Allah, inclining toward truth…”

The Quran further says that Ibrahim was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but one devoted to Allah.

Surah Aal-e-Imran 3:67

🌟 Main Lessons from Ibrahim (علیہ السلام)

Ibrahim rejected every form of idol worship.

2. Stand for truth.
He remained firm even when his people opposed him.

3. Trust Allah.
The fire could not harm him when Allah protected him.

4. Be respectful when calling others to truth.

Prophet Nuh (A.S.) Story in the Quran: The Power of Faith, Patience and Trust in Allah

🌊 The Story of Prophet Nuh (A.S.)

Prophet Nuh (A.S.) called his people to worship Allah alone, but most rejected him and mocked his message. Despite their behaviour, he remained patient and continued his mission.

Following Allah’s command, he built an ark. When the great flood arrived, Allah saved Nuh (A.S.) and the believers who boarded it. Even Nuh’s own son refused to believe and could not escape Allah’s decree.

This powerful story teaches us:

🤲 Trust Allah completely

“Indeed, he was a grateful servant.”
— Qur’an 17:3

May Allah give us the patience, faith and gratitude of Prophet Nuh (A.S.). Ameen.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Story of Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him)

Prophet Nuh was sent by Allah to people who worshipped idols. He lovingly called them to worship Allah alone and warned them against disobedience.

He preached publicly and privately, during the day and at night. However, most people refused to listen. Some placed their fingers in their ears, covered themselves, and behaved arrogantly. Nuh remained among his people for 950 years, but only a limited number believed.

Eventually, Allah revealed to Nuh that no more of his people would believe. Allah instructed him to build an ark under divine guidance. While Nuh built it, the leaders passed by and mocked him. He answered that a time would come when they would discover who truly deserved ridicule.

When Allah’s command arrived, water poured from the sky and burst from the earth. Nuh was commanded to take aboard:

  • The believers

  • Members of his family whom Allah had chosen to save

  • A pair of every kind

Nuh said:

“Board it. In the name of Allah is its course and its anchorage.”
— Qur’an 11:41

The ark sailed through enormous waves resembling mountains. Nuh saw one of his sons standing apart and called him to come aboard. His son refused, believing that a mountain would protect him from the water.

Nuh warned him:

“There is no protector today from the decree of Allah, except for whom He gives mercy.”
— Qur’an 11:43

A wave came between them, and his son drowned. This teaches that family connections cannot save someone without faith and Allah’s mercy.

After the flood, Allah commanded the earth to swallow its water and the sky to stop raining. The ark rested upon Mount Judi. Nuh and the believers left the ark with Allah’s peace and blessings.

Important lessons

  • Worship Allah alone.

  • Continue doing right even when people mock you.

  • True success comes through faith and obedience, not family status.

  • Parents should guide their children, but they cannot force faith into their hearts.

  • Allah saves the believers and fulfils His promises.

The story appears mainly in Surah Hud 11:25–49, Surah Nuh 71, and Surah Al-‘Ankabut 29:14–15.

The Story of Prophet Musa (A.S.) in the Quran | Pharaoh, Miracles and the Parting of the Sea

The Story of Prophet Musa (A.S.)

Prophet Musa (A.S.), known as Moses, was one of the greatest messengers of Allah. His story appears in several chapters of the Qur’an, including Surah Al-Qasas, Surah Taha, Surah Al-A‘raf, and Surah Ash-Shu‘ara. His life teaches us courage, patience, trust in Allah, and resistance to oppression.

The Cruelty of Pharaoh

Prophet Musa was born during the rule of Pharaoh, a proud and cruel king. Pharaoh oppressed the Children of Israel and treated them like slaves. He ordered that their newborn sons be killed while their daughters were allowed to live.

Musa’s mother was naturally afraid for her baby. Allah inspired her to feed him and, when she feared for his safety, place him in a chest and put it into the river. Allah promised that Musa would be returned to her and would become one of His messengers.

Trusting Allah, she placed her baby in the river. The chest was carried toward Pharaoh’s household, where it was discovered. Pharaoh’s wife saw the child and persuaded Pharaoh not to kill him. She hoped that they might adopt him or benefit from him.

Meanwhile, Musa’s mother was overcome with grief. She sent Musa’s sister to follow the chest from a distance. Baby Musa refused to drink milk from every woman who was brought to feed him. Musa’s sister then told Pharaoh’s household about a family that could care for him. In this way, Allah reunited Musa with his own mother, who became his nurse without revealing his identity.

Allah had fulfilled His promise. Musa was now safe in Pharaoh’s palace while still receiving the care of his mother. This part of the story is mentioned in Surah Al-Qasas, verses 7–13.

Musa Leaves Egypt

Musa grew into a strong and wise man. One day, he entered the city and saw two men fighting. One belonged to the Children of Israel, while the other belonged to Pharaoh’s people. The Israelite asked Musa for help.

Musa struck the Egyptian man, and the man died. Musa had not intended to kill him. He immediately recognised his mistake and asked Allah for forgiveness. Allah forgave him.

The next day, a man came running and warned Musa that Pharaoh’s leaders were planning to kill him. Musa left Egypt in fear and prayed:

“My Lord, save me from the wrongdoing people.”
— Surah Al-Qasas, 28:21

Musa in Madyan

After a long and difficult journey, Musa reached the land of Madyan. There, he found a group of shepherds giving water to their animals. He also noticed two women standing away from them with their flock.

Musa asked why they were waiting. They explained that they could not water their animals until the other shepherds had left and that their father was an elderly man. Musa helped them by watering their flock. He then sat under a tree and prayed:

“My Lord, indeed I am in need of whatever good You send down to me.”
— Surah Al-Qasas, 28:24

One of the women later returned and invited Musa to meet her father. After hearing Musa’s story, the elderly man reassured him that he was now safe from Pharaoh’s people. One of the women described Musa as strong and trustworthy.

The man offered one of his daughters in marriage to Musa on the condition that he work for him for eight years, though completing ten would be an act of generosity. Musa accepted the agreement and remained in Madyan.

Allah Speaks to Musa

After completing his term, Musa left Madyan with his family. During the journey, he saw a fire near Mount Sinai. He went toward it, hoping to bring back some information or a burning branch for warmth.

When Musa reached the place, Allah called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa and chose him as a prophet. Allah commanded him to worship Him and establish prayer.

Allah asked Musa what he held in his right hand. Musa replied that it was his staff, which he used for support and for bringing down leaves for his sheep. Allah commanded him to throw it down. When Musa did so, the staff turned into a moving serpent.

Musa became frightened, but Allah reassured him and told him to pick it up. It returned to its original form. Allah also commanded Musa to place his hand under his arm. When he brought it out, it appeared shining white without illness. These were signs from Allah.

Allah then commanded Musa to go to Pharaoh because Pharaoh had exceeded all limits. Musa prayed:

“My Lord, expand for me my chest,
and ease for me my task,
and untie the knot from my tongue
so that they may understand my speech.”

— Surah Taha, 20:25–28

Musa also asked Allah to appoint his brother Harun (Aaron) as his helper because Harun spoke more clearly. Allah accepted his prayer and made Harun a prophet alongside him.

Musa and Harun Face Pharaoh

Allah ordered Musa and Harun to speak gently to Pharaoh, even though he was a tyrant. They went to him and delivered Allah’s message. They commanded him to worship Allah and release the Children of Israel.

Pharaoh proudly asked who their Lord was. Musa answered that their Lord was the One who created everything and guided it. Pharaoh rejected the truth and accused Musa of being a magician.

Musa showed him the miracles of the staff and the shining hand. However, Pharaoh remained arrogant. He gathered the most skilled magicians in Egypt and arranged a public contest.

The Contest with the Magicians

On the appointed day, a great crowd gathered. Pharaoh’s magicians threw down their ropes and staffs, which appeared to move like snakes because of their magic. Even Musa felt some fear.

Allah told him not to be afraid. Musa threw down his staff, and it became a real serpent that swallowed what the magicians had produced.

The magicians immediately understood that Musa’s miracle was not magic. It was a sign from Allah. They fell in prostration and declared:

“We believe in the Lord of Harun and Musa.”
— Surah Taha, 20:70

Pharaoh became furious. He threatened to cut off their hands and feet on opposite sides and crucify them. But the magicians refused to abandon their faith. They preferred Allah’s forgiveness over Pharaoh’s punishment.

Their transformation is a powerful example of sincere faith. They had begun the day hoping to receive a reward from Pharaoh, but they ended it ready to sacrifice their lives for the truth.

Signs Sent to Pharaoh’s People

Despite witnessing clear evidence, Pharaoh and his leaders continued to reject Allah’s message. Allah sent several signs upon them, including floods, locusts, lice, frogs, and blood.

Whenever punishment came, Pharaoh’s people asked Musa to pray for its removal and promised that they would believe. However, when Allah removed the suffering, they broke their promise and returned to disbelief.

Their repeated dishonesty showed that they were not searching for the truth. Their pride and desire for power prevented them from accepting it.

The Crossing of the Sea

Allah commanded Musa to lead the Children of Israel out of Egypt during the night. When Pharaoh learned that they had escaped, he gathered his army and chased them.

At sunrise, Pharaoh’s forces came close to the Children of Israel. In front of them was the sea, and behind them was Pharaoh’s powerful army. Musa’s companions became terrified and said that they would certainly be caught.

Musa remained firm and replied:

“No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me.”
— Surah Ash-Shu‘ara, 26:62

Allah commanded Musa to strike the sea with his staff. The sea split apart, creating dry paths through the water. Musa and the Children of Israel crossed safely.

Pharaoh and his soldiers followed them into the sea. When Musa and his people reached the other side, the water returned to its normal state. Pharaoh and his army drowned.

As Pharaoh was drowning, he declared belief in the God of the Children of Israel. However, his declaration came too late because he had spent his life rejecting the truth and spreading corruption. Allah preserved his body as a sign for later generations. This event is mentioned in Surah Yunus, verses 90–92.

Lessons from the Story

The story of Prophet Musa teaches us never to lose hope in Allah. When Musa’s mother placed her baby in the river, Allah protected him. When Musa left Egypt alone and afraid, Allah gave him safety, employment, and a family. When he stood before Pharaoh, Allah supported him with miracles. When he was trapped between the sea and Pharaoh’s army, Allah opened a path where no path appeared to exist.

The story also teaches that worldly power does not last forever. Pharaoh had wealth, soldiers, and authority, but none of them could save him when Allah’s judgement arrived. Musa possessed only faith and a staff, yet Allah gave him victory over the most powerful ruler of his time.

Another important lesson is that believers must speak against injustice. Musa did not remain silent before Pharaoh. However, Allah initially commanded Musa and Harun to speak gently to him. This shows that truth should be presented with wisdom, clarity, and good character.

Moral: Trust Allah even when a situation appears impossible. Pride and oppression eventually lead to destruction, while faith, patience, and courage lead to Allah’s help and ultimate success.

Islamic story | Prophet Yusuf’s Patience and Forgiveness

Prophet Yusuf’s Patience and Forgiveness

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Prophet Yusuf’s Patience and Forgiveness

Prophet Yusuf عليه السلام once saw a dream: eleven stars, the sun, and the moon were bowing to him. His father, Prophet Ya‘qub عليه السلام, understood that Allah had a special future for Yusuf.

Yusuf’s brothers became jealous. They threw him into a deep well and told their father that a wolf had eaten him. Travelers later found Yusuf and took him to Egypt, where he was sold.

As a young man, Yusuf was falsely accused and imprisoned—even though he had done nothing wrong. Yet he remained patient, faithful, and kind. In prison, Allah gave him the ability to interpret dreams.

Years later, Egypt’s king had a troubling dream. Yusuf explained that seven years of abundant harvests would be followed by seven years of severe famine. Impressed by his wisdom and innocence, the king released him and gave him an important position managing the country’s food supplies.

During the famine, Yusuf’s brothers came to Egypt seeking food. They did not recognize him, but Yusuf recognized them. Although they had harmed him terribly, he chose forgiveness. He said:

“No blame will there be upon you today. May Allah forgive you.”
— Qur’an 12:92

Eventually, Yusuf was reunited with his beloved father, and his childhood dream came true.

Lesson: Jealousy can lead people toward injustice, but patience, trust in Allah, and forgiveness bring lasting goodness. Allah can turn even painful hardships into part of a greater plan.

You can read the complete account in Surah Yusuf, chapter 12 of the Qur’an.

Islamic story | The Honest Shopkeeper

----------------------------------------------------

The Honest Shopkeeper

In a small town surrounded by green fields, there lived a young man named Abdullah. He owned a small grocery shop near the town’s mosque. His shop was not very large, but it was always clean and well-organized. Abdullah sold flour, rice, sugar, dates, milk and other daily necessities.

Abdullah had learned an important lesson from his father.

“My son,” his father had once told him, “people may not always see what you do, but Allah sees everything. Always earn your living honestly.”

Abdullah never forgot these words. Every morning, he opened his shop after offering the Fajr prayer. Before starting his work, he said “Bismillah” and prayed for lawful earnings.

The people of the town trusted Abdullah because he was honest. He weighed everything correctly and never charged more than the fair price. If a customer gave him extra money by mistake, he immediately returned it.

One summer, the town faced a serious shortage of food. Heavy rain had damaged the roads, and the traders could not bring enough flour and rice into the town. The prices began to rise, and poor families became worried.

Some shopkeepers hid their bags of flour. They planned to sell them later at very high prices. One shopkeeper named Haris came to Abdullah and said, “You should hide your flour too. In a few days, people will pay three times its normal price. We can make a lot of money.”

Abdullah looked at him and replied, “These people are our neighbours. Some of them do not have enough food for their children. How can I take advantage of their need?”

Haris laughed at him. “Business is business,” he said. “If you do not make money now, you will regret it.”

For a moment, Abdullah became worried. He had only a few bags of flour left, and he also needed money. The roof of his house required repairs, and his mother needed medicine. He could earn a great profit by following Haris’s advice.

However, Abdullah remembered his father’s words: “Allah sees everything.”

He also remembered that Islam teaches Muslims to be honest, fair and merciful. Therefore, he decided not to increase the price unfairly.

The next morning, a poor widow named Amina came to his shop. She had three young children and very little money.

“Brother Abdullah,” she said nervously, “I need some flour, but I cannot pay the new market price.”

Abdullah gave her a bag of flour at the usual price.

Amina counted her coins, but they were not enough. Her eyes filled with tears.

“I am sorry,” she said. “I will return when I have more money.”

Abdullah gently pushed the bag towards her.

“Take it,” he said. “You can pay me later when it becomes easy for you.”

Amina thanked him and prayed, “May Allah reward you for your kindness.”

During the next few days, Abdullah continued selling food at a fair price. He limited the amount each family could buy so that everyone could receive something. He also quietly gave food to families who could not afford it.

Soon, Abdullah’s stock became very low. Haris visited him again and proudly showed him the money he had earned.

“Look at this!” Haris said. “I told you to raise your prices. Now you have almost nothing left, while I have made a great profit.”

Abdullah felt sad, but he answered calmly, “Money earned through another person’s suffering cannot bring true peace. I would rather have a small lawful earning than a large unfair profit.”

That night, Abdullah sat beside his sick mother. He wondered how he would buy her medicine and repair the damaged roof. Nevertheless, he remained patient and placed his trust in Allah.

The following morning, several trucks arrived in the town. The roads had been repaired, and the food shortage was finally over. A wealthy merchant named Ibrahim entered Abdullah’s shop.

“I have heard about your honesty and kindness,” Ibrahim said. “While others took advantage of the poor, you helped them. I need a trustworthy person to manage one of my large stores. Would you like to work with me?”

Abdullah was surprised. The merchant offered him a good salary and allowed him to continue operating his own shop. With his first payment, Abdullah bought medicine for his mother and repaired the roof of their house.

Meanwhile, Haris faced difficulties. When people discovered that he had hidden food and charged unfair prices, they stopped trusting him. Even after the shortage ended, many customers refused to visit his shop.

Haris finally realized his mistake. One evening, he went to Abdullah and said, “I was greedy and unfair. I thought only about money and forgot about the needs of others. Now I have lost everyone’s trust.”

Abdullah did not insult him. Instead, he said, “It is never too late to correct a mistake. Ask Allah for forgiveness, return any money you took unfairly and treat people honestly.”

Haris followed his advice. He sincerely repented and apologized to the townspeople. At first, it was difficult for him to regain their trust. However, he remained patient and dealt honestly with everyone. Slowly, the people began to trust him again.

Abdullah’s shop continued to grow. Yet success did not make him proud. He remained humble, helped the poor and treated every customer fairly. Whenever someone praised him, he replied, “Every blessing comes from Allah. We must use our blessings to help others.”

The people of the town learned an important lesson from Abdullah: wealth is not only the money a person possesses. True wealth includes honesty, a peaceful heart, the prayers of those we help and the pleasure of Allah.

Moral

Always be honest, even when dishonesty appears more profitable. Help people in times of difficulty, earn through lawful means and place your trust in Allah. Money may be lost and regained, but trust and good character are priceless.
