Al-Aqsa Masjid, commonly refers to the southern congregational mosque located in Jerusalem. The Mosque’s congregation building can accommodate about 5,000 people worshipping inside it, while the whole Al-Aqsa Mosque compound area may accommodate hundreds of thousands. During times of increased security only Muslims of a certain age are permitted to access the mosque. It is the third largest or biggest Islamic mosque.

Al-Nabawi Mosque of the Prophet, in Medina, is the second holiest and largest mosque in Islam. It is the final resting place of Muhammad(PBUH). The original mosque was built by Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) himself. Subsequent Islamic rulers greatly expanded and decorated it. The most important feature of the site is the green dome over the center of the mosque, where the tomb of Muhammad(PBUH) is located. Constructed in 1817 and painted green in 1839, it is known as the Dome of the Prophet.

Al-Haram Mosque also known Haram Sharief in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, is the holiest and biggest mosque in the world and the main destination of the Hajj pilgrimage. The mosque complex covers an area of 356,800 square meters and can accommodate up to 820,000 worshippers during the Hajj. The Masjid al-Haram (“Holy Mosque”) is the only mosque that has no qibla direction, since Muslims pray facing the Ka’ba in the central courtyard.
